Tree Farm Certification
There are several certifications through various conservation agencies and organizations. They are designed to recognize outstanding achievement to landowners who responsibly manage their natural resources. Virginia Forest Service works closely with these partners and tries to help promote these individuals and their properties.
One of the most popular forest certifications is from The American Tree Farm System. It is a nationwide community of nearly 70,000 individuals and families joined by their desire for excellence in forest stewardship. Virginia Forest Service and Land Care can assist you with the process of becoming a Certified Tree Farmer. Once qualified, you will receive a sign for your property and a free first year subscription to Tree Farmer magazine.
Other natural resource conservation certifications include the Forest Stewardship Program, Clean Water Farm Awards, and Forest Stewardship Council Certification. Contact Virginia Forest Service if you would like more information on these or any other programs.
